CLUB GROUNDS DEVELOPMENT

In 2008 Killeshin FC purchased our current club grounds at The Quakers and have been developing our new grounds since.  We are very grateful to the local farmers who very generously provided us with pitches since the clubs inception in 1983.  With the huge growth in the numbers of players and teams in our club the committee decided the time was right for the club to progress and develop our own Club and to provide top class soccer facilities for the current and future generations in our community.   The  tremendous support of our local community towards our fundraising drives has been the key factor in us now providing these facilities.

Club Development Phase 1

Phase 1 commenced in 2012. We engaged local Planning and Design Consultants  PDS to plan, design and seek Planning Permission for our Development. Local contractors Penturf  were then awarded the contract for Phase 1 which included a Cut and Fill of the site and the laying of 2 full size pitches and training pitch. Our main Pitch is a full sand carpet pitch and second pitch is natural turf pitch with full drainage constructed to allow a sand surface to be constructed in future. The project was completed in 2013 and the pitches open in 2014. Much thanks must go Giles Lloyd and Paddy Byrne at PDS and Anthony Pender and family at Penturf for delivering such quality pitches.

Club Development Phase 2

In February 2017 we were granted full planning permission from Laois County Council for a dormer Clubhouse to include 4 dressing rooms with showers and toilets, Kitchen, physio room, officials room, club lounge with plans for a first floor Gym in future. Again we engaged PDS as our design team and on receipt of planning permission applied to the Governments 2017 Sports Capital grant aid scheme for aid towards the construction cost. In December 2017 we were awarded €78,000 from the scheme, the second highest grant in Laois.  Tender documents are currently being prepared by PDS and once contractors are in place we hope to commence construction in summer 2018. Again much thanks to PDS for their continued support of our development plans, their support and guidance has been instrumental in the delivery of our club development plan.
